To help you shoot blur-free, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features Canon’s Image Stabilizer technology. It allows shutter speeds up to 3.5 stops slower than normal to be used, while also preventing blur caused by camera shake – ideal in low light or when shooting at high zoom. Pan Detection automatically turns off stabilisation in either the horizontal or vertical direction, helping to convey a sense of speed when photographing moving subjects.

STM technology.

The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses Stepping Motor (STM) technology for smooth, quiet continuous focusing when recording EOS video and fast, precise AF when shooting stills. STM focusing is so quiet that it is not picked up by the camera's microphone and does not interfere with recorded sound.

The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses a UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) element and Super Spectra lens coatings to deliver clear, sharp, high-contrast images throughout the zoom range. A manual focus ring allows for quick and easy fine-tuning of focus settings at any time, while a minimum focusing distance of 0.85m enables the capture of small subjects. A non-rotating front element simplifies the use of filters.
