Amplifier iFi Audio - Zen CAN Signature MZ99, blue

The original ZEN CAN, an all-analog headphone amplifier, has the ability to handle heavy headphone loads with a balanced circuit design, low distortion levels and exceptional sound. The specially tuned Zen CAN Signature MZ99 was created for the Meze 99 Classics headphones to improve their efficiency as much as possible.

ActivEQ combines active and passive components to create a specific EQ curve to suit a specific pair of headphones. This is done in the analog domain without adding any additional noise or distortion.

Meze 99 Classics are revered worldwide for their exceptional tonality and dynamic expression - they are loved by artists and audio enthusiasts alike. The ZEN CAN Signature MZ99, with its perfectly matched ActivEQ mode, tunes the high frequencies for more vibrancy, while the enhanced mid-low bass gets the most out of the Meze 99 Classics.

The ZEN CAN Signature MZ99 has four gain settings in six dB steps - 0dB, 6dB, 12dB and 18db. This allows the amplifier to be precisely matched to the headphones connected. The single gain (0dB) is useful for providing low noise with sensitive monitors, while the higher gain settings make the most of heavier headphone loads, providing excellent dynamic headroom.

The ZEN CAN Signature MZ99 circuit is a balanced, symmetrical dual mono design – a topology usually reserved for high-end headphone amplifiers. Key components have been upgraded to improve performance in line with the improvements made to the ZEN CAN Signature MZ99, including the use of Panasonic OS-CON and Elna Silmic II capacitors .
