A separate tweeter mounted at eye level projects vocals in front of the driver instead of down at their feet.

The HERTZ DSK 170.3 from the Dieci series is a two-way component car speaker system with a 170 mm woofer, a 24 mm dome tweeter and an external crossover. The set is for two doors and runs directly from the power amplifier of a car radio or from an amplifier. A sensitivity of 93 dB SPL means high loudness even with modest output power.

Component layout for a realistic soundstage

The tweeters are mounted separately from the bass drivers, on a mirror-triangle bracket or built into the dashboard. Vocals and details come from the front and above, not from under the knees as with coaxial speakers.

V-cone diaphragm for a clean midrange

The woofer uses pressed paper with water-repellent treatment, which withstands the humidity inside the door. The shape of the diaphragm widens the radiation angle and preserves detail when you listen from the side rather than directly in front of the speaker.

Neodymium tweeter with PEI dome

The PEI dome reproduces up to 23 kHz and handles cymbals and strings without harshness. The set includes surface-mount and angled cups, so the speaker axes are directed toward the listener's head.

External crossover with cutoff at 3.5 kHz

The filter splits the signal at a slope of 12 dB per octave and protects the small dome from low frequencies. The box hides behind the door trim or under the seat.

DIN dimensions for factory cutouts

The outer diameter is 165 mm with a 140 mm cutout and a mounting depth of 45 mm, so the dimensions match common European and Asian door openings. The basket has an abrasion-resistant coating, and the terminals are tinned for reliable contact.
