The blade is carefully sharpened on a diamond wheel to achieve excellent sharpness. The specific curve makes the knife suitable for use in the kitchen for tasks requiring precision such as filleting fish and slicing thin pieces.

The stainless steel with hardness 55-57 HRC, used in the blades is a grade optimised to ensure both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The advantage of stainless steel is that it does not require special maintenance under normal conditions of use. However, it is advisable to avoid contact with aggressive environments (acid, salt water, cleaning agents, etc.).

Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the safety ring Virobloc is fitted to all folding knives from No. 6 onwards. It has two sections - one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety in transport).
