Noctua Mounting Kit NM-DD1

The NM-DD1 is a distance mounting kit that enables the use of a wide range of Noctua CPU coolers on delidding AMD AM5 processors. Removing the integrated CPU heat spreader (delidding) and placing the heat sink directly on the die allows for much more efficient heat transfer and can thus significantly lower the CPU temperature, with a typical reduction of 10-15°C. All other parts required for delidding and direct die cooling - a delidding tool, a direct die cooling frame to protect the CPU and liquid metal thermal paste - must be purchased separately.

Direct die cooling is done at your own risk! Although high-quality defect removal tools and direct dies such as those from der8auer are carefully designed to minimize the risk of damaging the CPU or other hardware components, direct die cooling always carries some risk of damaging components, for example due to cracked edges of bare CPU dies or short circuits from liquid metal. De-cooling also voids the CPU warranty. Therefore, use of the NM-DD1 is strictly at the customer's own risk and Noctua cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur to CPUs or other hardware components when removing the heat spreader and using direct die cooling.

Due to the removal of the IHS, the cooler will be positioned 3.7mm lower than before. Please ensure that you have sufficient clearance (>3.7mm) under the heat pipes and cooler fins before proceeding with direct cooling of the die. In particular, be aware of tall heatsinks on the motherboard, and if the heatsink fins are overhanging the RAM, also ensure that there is sufficient clearance between the fins and the RAM.
