Description
Handle of the folding knife Opinel Animalia is made of oak wood, which makes it comfortable and durable. It features laser-engraved natural motifs.
Opinel pays tribute to the traditional wood engraving craft of the Alps region with the Animalia knife collection, depicting animals and natural motifs on its handles.
The stainless steel with a hardness 55-57 HRC, used in the blades is a grade optimised to ensure both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The advantage of stainless steel is that it does not require special maintenance under normal conditions of use. However, it is recommended to avoid contact with aggressive environments (acid, salt water, cleaning products, etc.).
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the safety ring Virobloc is fitted to all folding knives from No. 6 onwards. It has two sections - one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety in transport).
