PAMPASCA GRASS SEEDS VILMORIN

Cortaderia selloana, also known as Pampas grass, is a tall grass originating from the southern parts of South America. Its impressive and majestic flower stalks invariably attract the eye. The offered seeds are suitable for medium and large gardens. Cortaderia forms large dense tufts of tough, flat and narrow leaves. The inflorescences are white or silvery in colour and can be used for decoration, including dried. The stem of the flower stalk itself is sturdy, light green and reaches 180 cm to 360 cm in height, and the inflorescences are huge. This ornamental grass blooms from early to late summer depending on the specific microclimate; the flowering is long-lasting. If the inflorescences are left to mature on the plant, they take on a golden tint as the weather cools.
During the first season after sowing the seeds, it is advisable to protect Cortaderia from severe frost, unless you sowed the seeds early in spring, in which case the young grasses will be large enough to overwinter successfully outdoors as well.
It requires minimal care. It loves a lot of sun and well-drained soil with constant moisture. Do not cut the leaf mass in autumn, but in spring; this way the old leaves serve as natural protection against the cold. It withstands down to -20℃ without problems, even combined with strong wind, as long as the soil is not waterlogged. Be very careful when touching Cortaderia leaves and wear gloves, because cuts are quite painful.
Cortaderia begins to bloom two to three years after sowing the seeds and is a long-lived, perennial plant.
