Spathiphyllum is a stemless perennial plant.
Its leaves grow directly from the root.
Their shape can be lanceolate or oval, and the color is sometimes variegated.
Even without flowers, its leaves look quite decorative.
In spring, an elegant veil of cream shades forms on the spathiphyllum, wrapped in a light blanket.
As the flower develops, the veil begins to turn green.
After the plant fades, the stalk is cut off at the very base.
This flower differs from the vast majority of houseplants in its moisture-loving nature, so after purchasing, check whether the soil is moist enough.
It is recommended to grow on eastern and western windows.
If the plant will be on the south side, it is important to keep it out of direct sunlight.
Diffused light has a better effect on its development.
In spring and summer, spathiphyllum needs a temperature in the range of 22-23 degrees, but not lower than 18 degrees.
In winter, optimal growing conditions are considered to be 16-18 degrees.
In summer, the soil should have time to dry out by about 1.5 cm, in winter the soil is moistened much less often. During growth, it is watered more abundantly.
After the buds have formed, the bush should be sprayed more carefully so as not to wet the future flowers. In winter, you can reduce spraying.
The optimal soil is a mixture of peat, humus, sand, turf and leaf soil.
